Green/Colorado Rivers

The State of Utah currently claims ownership to portions of the Green and Colorado Rivers. The ownership boundaries of sovereign lands on the Green and Colorado Rivers is defined by the ordinary high water mark of each river through those portions that have been deemed navigable at statehood. Western practices of water diversion and storage over many years have had significant human-caused impacts on water flows and therefore on the placement and appearance of the high water mark on the riverbank along these rivers. Therefore the location of the ordinary high water mark is unsettled.
